Why Your Support Matters
The Walpole Fire Department and the broader Massachusetts public safety community are mourning the tragic and untimely loss of Firefighter/Paramedic Elizabeth Marie Hunt, 35, of Abington, who passed away on November 3, 2026. Born on April 9, 1991, Elizabeth achieved her lifelong dream when she began her career with the Walpole Fire Department on April 11, 2022. Assigned to Group 1, Station 1, she established herself as a dedicated and compassionate first responder. Elizabeth’s commitment to the fire service and her community was unwavering; she recently earned her Master’s degree from Waldorf University in May 2026 with the goal of rising through the ranks and taking on greater leadership roles within the department.
Beyond the uniform, Elizabeth possessed a vibrant spirit and a disciplined drive that inspired everyone around her. A former personal trainer and lifelong fitness enthusiast, she studied and taught karate for 23 years, achieving the prestigious rank of 5th-degree master-level black belt. Despite her fierce dedication to her craft, she was known to those closest to her as the finest soul they would ever know—a woman who loved deeply, cherished her beloved cats (Freddie, Cairo, and Andie), and brought warmth and sisterhood to countless friends. She was the beloved eldest child of Mark and Victoria Hunt, and the devoted sister and best friend to Benjamin Allen Hunt.
Above all, Elizabeth is survived by her loving wife, Stephanie McKinnon, with whom she shared ten wonderful years together and six years of marriage. Like Elizabeth, Stephanie has dedicated her career to serving the Commonwealth, working on the front lines of public safety as a dispatcher for the Massachusetts State Police. The sudden loss of Elizabeth at just 35 years old has left an unimaginable void, both emotionally and financially, for a family that has given so much to protect others. Contributions through the PFFM Foundation will directly support Stephanie and the Hunt family, easing their immediate financial burdens during this devastating time as we stand beside one of our own in her hour of greatest need.
